BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe launched in Malaysia, expected to launch in India by next month

The German automaker has officially launched the 8 Series Gran Coupe in Malaysia, offering a sole 840i variant to the customers. Currently on sale in Malaysia at a starting price of RM 968,300 (Rs. 1.68 crores approx.).The sedan is likely to reach the Indian shore by next month as mentioned in the BMW official website.


Under the hood, the 840i is powered by 3.0 Litre turbocharged six-cylinder straight engine churning out 335hp power at 5000-6000rpm and 500Nm of peak torque at 1600-4500rpm. It is equipped with an 8-speed Steptronic Automatic transmission transmitting power to the rear wheels. It can quickly reach 0 to 100kmph in 5.2 seconds, the speed limited by electronic control. Scoring a fuel consumption of 7.6L per 100Km and with the carbon footprint of 180g/km of CO2, the Gran Coupe managed to make it through the emission standards. Other mechanical upgrades include M sport differential, integral active steering (wheel steering), sports exhaust system and adaptive suspension.


As you step into the cabin, you can notice the fine wood and ash grey metallic high gloss trim, M door sills, M leather steering wheels, black finish leather dashboard and Merino extended leather seat upholstery and so on.


Moving on to comfort and convenience features, the sedan makes sure you don't miss out any. The package includes four-zone climate control, cruise control with stop & go function, lane departure and change warning, lane change assistant, ventilated and heated powered front seat with memory function, live cockpit professional system, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25 inch BMW navigation system, powered sunblind and BMW display key. The infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay is connected to 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Comfort features include powered tailgates, comfort access and soft-closing doors.



In terms of safety, it comes with dynamic stability control (DSC), Dynamic traction control (DTC), Cornering brake control (CBC), Dynamic brake control (DBC) and ABS with brake assist.


Gran Coupe is sold in six colours- Black sapphire, mineral white, Barcelona blue, Sonic speed blue, Carbon black and sunset orange while the Merino leather trim can be availed in colour combos like Fiona red, Tartufo, Cognac, Night blue and black.


Interested buyers can book the Gran Coupe in BMW shop online for an initial fee of RM 5,000(Rs. 87,500 approx.) in Malaysia since showrooms are closed due to movement control order (MCO). The sedan comes with benefits including 5 years/unlimited warranty with free scheduled service, a two year/24 month tyre warranty, BMW roadside assistance, BMW service online and BMW group Loyalty + membership programme.
