Owing to the nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19, carmakers are going the extra mile to ensure that customers get 24/7 assistance. Many manufacturers have come up with initiatives to ease the challenges faced by customers. The latest to join the list is Nissan India following the footprints of other carmakers like Volkswagen, Maruti Suzuki, and Tata Motors. This move will come as a relief to the customers whose free service, warranty, and extended warranty are coming to an end in this lockdown period.

Commenting on the move, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, MD Nissan motor India stated “We realize the importance of supporting our customers during these uncertain times. Nissan is putting its best foot forward to ensure seamless communication and hassle-free processes. While social distancing in such unpredictable times is our collective responsibility, we want to ensure that our customers do not face any hurdles and are able to avail of our services for the interim period as well as once operation resume."

Nissan India has launched a special package to help customers during these uncertain times. The special package includes emergency roadside assistance during the lockdown and extended warranty for those who cannot avail benefits like free service or standard service. They have announced that customers can avail of free service, warranty and extended warranty for one month after lockdown is lifted.

With the number of cases increasing steadily on a daily basis, the Central government has extended the nationwide lockdown till May 3, 2020. However, some relaxations have been provided post 20th April in a limited manner with standard protocols like social distancing in less affected areas to ensure daily errands. Although the reason for excluding the auto sector in this list has left experts in confusion given that the industry is already incurring hefty losses.

Apart from warranty extension, Nissan India is working on launching a sub-4m compact SUV, Magnite. The upcoming SUV will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue. Another SUV, codenamed HBC is also on cards offer, expect the launch before the festive season.
