In the BS-VI era, the Hyundai India is steadily upgrading its current model to newer and stringent BS-VI emission norms. The latest to join the band is Venue with an all-new BS6-compliant 1.5L CRDi diesel engine, a detuned version of the unit from 2020 Creta thus replacing the older 1.4L CRDi diesel engine with a starting price of Rs. 8.09 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi).
The new engine is essentially a detuned version of the unit used in Kia Seltos and current-gen Creta good enough for producing 100PS power at 4000rpm and 240Nm of peak torque at 1500-2750rpm. It is more efficient in a way that it develops 10PS and 20Nm than the older 1.4L CRDi U2 diesel engine. It is paired to 6-speed manual gearbox with no automatic transmission on offer which might be a slight disadvantage. The Venue is currently offered in five variants- E, S, SX, SX (Dual-tone) and SX (O). Apart from the mechanical upgrade, there is no update in terms of feature.
According to ARAI reports, BS-VI Venue diesel has a fuel economy of 23.3 kmpl which is quite decent when compared to its rivals. For prospective buyers, the marginal drop of 0.4 kmpl when compared to 23.7 kmpl in BS-IV Venue should be reasonable. The 23.3 kmpl still makes the Venue diesel as the most efficient diesel compact SUV.
About the pricing, the new Venue could be Rs.17000 to Rs.55000 premium than the ongoing models. Here is the price difference chart:
|Model||BS-VI price||BS-IV price||Difference|
|E Diesel (Base Model)||Rs. 8.09 Lakhs *||Rs. 7.76 Lakhs *||Rs. 33,000|

The new Venue has received a 4-star rating in the ASEAN NCAP safety test.
Hyundai India has received a BS-VI compliance certificate for Venue petrol units- 1.0L Turbocharged petrol engine and 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine. The same units are being used in current-gen Creta and Verna facelift.
Right from the launch, the Venue has received a terrific response from buyers by outselling the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza for two consecutive months. Somehow, the Vitara Brezza managed to make it back to the sales chart with its huge discount. The Venue remains the most efficient and affordable SUV without compromising on the performance and comfort. Interested customers can book your Venue with a token amount of Rs. 21000 at all the Hyundai dealership. In the Indian market, it will take on the likes of Ford Ecosport, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Honda WR-V.
