With an expected launch sometime in February, test drives for Kia Carens will begin from February 1. Bookings for the company’s latest release opened on January 14 and deliveries are expected to start from early March. The retail value of Kia Carens ranges from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom).
In India, the Carens will be available in five trims – Prestige, Prestige Plus, Premium, Luxury, and Luxury Plus. Depending on the variant, the Carens offers both 6- and 7-seater configurations.
Standard safety features of the Carens include six airbags, traction control, hill assist/descent control, electronic stability control (ESC), all-wheel disc brakes, and tire pressure monitoring. The top-notch variants will further get a rear parking camera and front parking sensors.
Under the hood, the Carens presents the option of two petrol and one diesel engine. The former is a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that puts up 115hp and 144Nm, and will solely be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The latter is a 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine capable of pumping 140hp and 242Nm, twinned to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
