South Korean carmaker Kia Motors decides to continue rolling out newer models at the regular delta in India as it aspires to entirely utilize its present installed production capacity of three lakh units by March 2022, as told by a senior company official. The company, which possesses a flying start within the country with its first product Seltos, aims to usher in two more models this year.

Kia will drive-in with the luxury MPV Carnival at Auto Expo, followed by a compact SUV later during the FY2020. Similarly, the corporation would also check out bringing in two more products next year also.

"We have already stated that we'll keep introducing a replacement model every six months. Our first goal immediately is to completely exhaust the installed production capacity," as informed by Manohar Bhat, Head of Marketing and Sales, Kia Motors India. It should take around 4-5 models from the company's stables to realize the target in 2022, he added.

Kia Motors' manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh has an installed production capacity to roll out 3 lakh units once a year on a 3 shift basis. The automaker is presently running two shifts at the production plant. Commenting on the Carnival, which was showcased here, Bhat told the media that the corporation would soon be creating a replacement segment with the existing model.

"Carnival is going to be our flagship model in India. There is no product like it in the country right now. It would meet the evolving needs of elite customers in the country." Bhatt said. Carnival is powered by a 2.2-liter diesel and boasts of the excellent fuel efficiency of 13.9 km per liter. "We will redefine the market place with this product as well as we did with Seltos. It will have BS-VI compliant engine right from the start." Bhatt said.

When asked to discuss sales expectations from the model, he added that the corporation isn't watching it from the volume point of view, but wants to showcase its prowess in terms of quality and luxury. The compact SUV, which could be showcased at the Auto Expo and launched later in the year, has the potential to be more of a volume cruncher for the carmaker, he foretold.

On sales network expansion, Bhatt said the corporation is already present in 165 locations across the country with 200 dealerships.
