Hyundai launched The second-generation Creta on 16th March 2020 and priced at Rs.9.99 Lakhs onwards (Ex-showroom Delhi). All set and upgraded to compete in the SUV segment with Kia Seltos. Ever since the launch of Kia Seltos on Indian roads in the second half of 2019, the craze for Seltos hasn't gone down. It made its way to the top-selling SUV of the year by selling more than 50,000 units in just 3 months of launch. It has set the bar so high with countless features at an affordable price. Seltos has even set the benchmark for the premium SUVs below RS. 30 Lakhs.
With the launch of Hyundai Creta 2020 on Indian roads, here comes the next big question for Auto enthusiasts: Which one is better? Which one is value for money? Let's get started.
Hyundai Creta starts at Rs. 9.99 Lakhs and Kia Seltos starts at Rs. 9.89 Lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi). They're offered with the BS-6 engine. The Hyundai Creta shares its powertrain platform with its cousin Kia Seltos, with an increase in mileage of 0.6 kmpl. So apart from the slightly increased mileage, there is no performance difference between them given that they share the same engine churning out 140PS power and 242Nm Torque. So performance-wise there is no big difference. Although, the Kia Seltos is 15mm longer,10mm wider and 10mm taller than its Korean rival.
Let's dig into the features and packages that are common in the premium SUVs. Both Seltos and Creta comes with standard features including 6 Airbags, Traction control, cruise control, wireless charger, Bluetooth connectivity, a front power outlet, Sunglass holders, Steering mounted Audio controls, Height adjustable driver seat, Rear parking sensor, Keyless entry, In-built air purifier, Fabric upholstery and largest boot space of up to 433 liters. Moving on to features that make Kia Seltos stand out from the rest. The panoramic sunroof is one thing that Seltos is missing out. 8" Heads up display, 360-degree parking camera, front parking sensor in addition to rear parking sensor, UV cut solar glass (front windshield and windows), Blind spot monitor, LED sound mood lighting, BOSE 8 Speaker sound system are some of the exclusive features of Seltos premium variants. Having said that, Kia Seltos features a complete package of Interior and Equipment list.
Features that are offered in Creta over Seltos: Smart panoramic sunroof with voice control, Electric parking with auto hold, Paddle shifters, Twin tip exhaust, Manual transmission remote engine start, Welcome function with puddle lamps, Additional voice commands for BlueLink- Hello BlueLink, Cricket score, Rear Seat Headrest cushion, One-touch cruise control, and Touch-enabled auto healthy air purifier. However, Hyundai Creta is more fuel-efficient than Seltos.
Currently, Kia Seltos is offered in 18 variants and 13 color options, whereas the Hyundai Creta is available 14 variants and 10 color options.
So, considering all the features Seltos and Creta offers, Kia Seltos is clearly the winner with the features it comes with. Be it design, interior finish or ride handling, Seltos is definitely a better choice with the exclusive features and the price affordability it provides. Well, Hyundai Creta 2020 comes with a bit lavish price tag. But, the features it provides justifies the value for money. Although the features that come with extra price tags are slightly luxurious.
If you're still confused, visit your nearest Hyundai dealer and Kia dealer and ask for a test drive. Nothing feels like driving the car and getting the feel of it personally. Then you can choose which one is your kind of car.
